The annual Hawick junior
handicapped tournament was played on Tuesday, 21 April, 2015 at Hawick High School main games hall.
Two pools of players played
round robin games against each other with each game played over
one end to 15 points. The winner from each pool then went
through to play in the final.
The final was
played over a single game to 21 points and was between Paul
Goldie and his younger brother Martin. Martin played out of his
skin in a determined effort to beat his older brother. Martin
playing with a handicap score of +6 found Paul too strong to
handle on the night and despite Paul losing a few points towards
the end of the game, Paul went on to win the final 21-16. Both
players are to be congratulated for the high standard of play
and for making the final such a memorable, exciting game.
The trophies for the
handicapped tournament were presented by Colin Blaikie. The
trophy that is given to the Young Player of the Year, for
their dedication and commitment towards the sport and who has
continued to improve steadily throughout the season, was
presented this year to Jessica Hutchison.
