Coaching
Children
BADMINTONscotland is committed to ensuring the
safety and well-being of children, and to that end has
produced a Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy aimed at
supporting member clubs and has signed up to the 2006 Accord for
the Protection of Children in Scottish Sport.
BADMINTONscotland's action plan in relation to the
Accord can be found
here.
BADMINTONscotland has also produced a series of
appendices which can be downloaded individually and cover
subjects such as self declaration, medical consent, incident
reporting etc. These forms are design to assist clubs,
organisers and coaches with some of the administration which may
be required during the season.
BADMINTONscotland will only engage coaches who are
prepared to adopt 'best practice' as outlined in the Code of
Conduct. The Code of Conduct has been extracted from the Child
and Vulnerable Adult protection policy and should be adhered to
by all coaches.
Most coaches
are perfectly proper in their dealings with children and the
code should merely be confirmation of existing good practice. We
are supportive of BADMINTONscotland's
position on this issue. We appreciate that the policy and
procedures will protect our own position in the unlikely event
that issue is taken with our actions.
